Here Are Just Some of Our Many Success Stories!

Nacho the Runt: Surrendered

Lord Farquad the Ostrich: Injured

Lord Farquad the Ostrich: Injured

I was the runt of my litter and was close to starvation—my owners would have eaten me at my full size! Thankfully I was picked up, nursed, and house trained with a large puppy until I was able to be rehomed as a pet to a loving family on a farm

Lord Farquad the Ostrich: Injured

My leg was broken from the harsh living conditions at my previous home (an ostrich meat farm) now I’m stitched up and on a new farm where I get hand fed every day!

Bambino the Axis Deer: Orphaned

Bambino the Axis Deer: Orphaned

My mom didn’t want to keep nursing me so I was left to starve—thankfully someone was willing to bottle feed me every 4 hours for the first 3 weeks of my life! I am now happy on a sanctuary in east Texas!

Pringle the Piglet: Orphaned

Garry and Sailor the Ducks: Injured

Bambino the Axis Deer: Orphaned

My mom was eaten when I was too young to be weaned—thankfully a nice man and his dog raised me indoors until I was ready to go to a new home!

Garry and Sailor the Ducks: Injured

Garry and Sailor the Ducks: Injured

Garry and Sailor the Ducks: Injured

We were abandoned at a park because our owners didn’t want more drakes in their flocks or couldn’t deal with our poop. Sailor had a broken wing and I had scars and tears all over my legs and feet. Thankfully we were scooped up and kept safe and fed well until we were able to find owners who loved us more!

Pickle the Opossum: Orphaned

Garry and Sailor the Ducks: Injured

Garry and Sailor the Ducks: Injured

I was dropped by my mom during a rainstorm and brought to a wildlife rehab! Thankfully a nice boy nursed me back to health and I am now back in the wild thriving on my own!

McMuffin the Hen: Injured

Peppa and Pepe the Feral Hoglets

Peppa and Pepe the Feral Hoglets

Hi I'm McMuffin! i was born with a curved beak and abandoned at a feed store. I couldn't eat solid foods on my own! Thankfully TURR gave me plenty of soft food and handfed me every day while I was growing up! I am now a happy adult hen and eating on my own! I even give back a little by laying out breakfast every now and then!

Peppa and Pepe the Feral Hoglets

Peppa and Pepe the Feral Hoglets

Hi we’re peppa and pepe! When we were just baby feral hogs our parents were shot and a scary dog brought us back to the shooters! Although we suffered some heavy bruising and were covered in parasites—the shooters sister brought us to TURR. TURR treated us, quarantined us, trained us, and got us back onto a farm with some loving new owners! We’re proof that not all feral hogs are evil!

Prince Charming the Emu: Sick

Gizmo the Ostrich: Curled Toes

Hi I’m Prince Charming! I had a bad and contagious skin condition and my old owners wanted to give me away instead of treating it—thankfully TURR was able to bring me in and quarentine me while I received treatment! I’m now happily married on a sanctuary in east Texas with the most wonderful owners!

Gizmo the Ostrich: Curled Toes

Hi I'm Gizmo!  I was born with curled toes and couldn’t walk very well at all! My old owners didn’t have time to help me and would have eaten me anyways. Thankfully TURR spent lots of time with me to teach me how to walk and now my toes are (mostly) straight and I’m running around on a large sanctuary in Fort Worth with lots of pretty ladies!

Borb the Dove: Orphaned

Gizmo the Ostrich: Curled Toes

Geronimo the Pigeon: Orphaned

Hi I’m Borb! I fell from the nest and was temporarily cared for by TURR until I was able to be brought to a rehab center! Thankfully I was found at just the right time—or I wouldn’t have been successfully released back into the wild!

Geronimo the Pigeon: Orphaned

Gizmo the Ostrich: Curled Toes

Geronimo the Pigeon: Orphaned

Hi I’m Geronimo! I was named that because I jumped out of the nest when I was too young! Thankfully TURR fed me 3 times a day with a syringe like my mommy would until I was fully grown! They even patched me up after being attacked by a falcon! I am now married and my wife and kids live happily in the neighbors porch. They still feed us every day. :)

Forest Gump: Splayed Legs

Bookie the Feral Kitten: Neglected

Sandy the Squirrel: Orphaned

Hi I’m Forest Gump! I developed splayed legs due to malnutrition and couldn’t even walk when I was given to TURR—thankfully uncle Ben made me a cast out of just a cardboard box and zip ties—and kept me inside as he tended to my bandages and helped me learn to walk! I am now happily married on a lovely homestead in South Texas—where I get handled every day!

Sandy the Squirrel: Orphaned

Hi I’m Sandy! I was found on the side of the road after being orphaned and was brought to TURR to be cared for until a wildlife rehab was opened during Covid! After being bottle fed and cared for I was brought to one of our staff’s mentors at a rehab and successfully returned back into the wild!

Bookie the Feral Kitten: Neglected

Bookie the Feral Kitten: Neglected

Bookie the Feral Kitten: Neglected

Hi I’m Bookie! I was the product of a terrible cat hoarding situation in Waco! I would have grown up to be neglected, underfed, and potentially exterminated! Thankfully TURR caught me in a humane trap—washed off my fleas and ticks—and even forgave me for biting them! I am now a beloved pet and pull my weight on a farm by keeping away mice—but during the day I sleep on a comfy couch and get lots of scratches!

Water Sheep the Lamb: Orphaned

Frostbite and Vinny the Meat Rabbits: Neglected + Hoarded

Bookie the Feral Kitten: Neglected

Hi I’m Water Sheep! My mom rejected me when I tried to nurse as a baby and thankfully I was given to TURR! They bottle fed me every few hours and even kept me in the house with a diaper! I got to sleep on the couch even in the bed so long as I kept a fresh diaper on! I am now a beloved pet on a small homestead in Austin!

Arthur the Armadillo: Injured

Frostbite and Vinny the Meat Rabbits: Neglected + Hoarded

Frostbite and Vinny the Meat Rabbits: Neglected + Hoarded

Hi I'm Arthur! I was found with a broken tail and could barely move I was so injured. Thankfully, TURR was able to bring me to a wildlife rehab quickly after giving me some sugar water and worms! After just a week I was healed up and ready to go back into the wild!

Frostbite and Vinny the Meat Rabbits: Neglected + Hoarded

Hi we're Frostbite and Vincent VanBun! We came from a terrible hoarding situation and were stacked on top of each  other in tiny cages by our old owners! We were severely malnourished and we resorted to biting each others ears! Thankfully the humane society picked us up and brought us to TURR. We are now very friendly and ready for our new homes!

Ronaldo the Goat: Table Fare

Ronaldo the Goat: Table Fare

Ronaldo the Goat: Table Fare

Hi we're Ronaldo and Ronaldo! We grew up on a farm that raises goats for meat. We were malnourished and supposed to be slaughtered! Thankfully TURR picked us up, fed us, gave us shots, and even let us sleep in the house! (so long as we kept our diapers on of course!) because of this we became tame enough to become backyard pets in our new home! (after being safely neutered of course!) We are now on a lovely homestead in South Texas.
